Porcelain touch-up procedure (for areas 1 inch or smaller)1) Acquire color-match porcelain touch-up paint from your appliance manufacturer or dealer. Shake or stir thoroughly before using.2) Feather the damaged area by sanding with 300 or 400 grit sandpaper until there are no sharp edges and the sanded area feels as smooth as the surrounding area.3) Clean the area with lacquer thinner or Windex glass cleaner with ammonia and a clean white rag. Do not use paint thinner, mineral spirits or oil base cleaners like Fantastic or Formula 409. Surface must be clean, dry and free of oil, grease, rust, old paint and other contaminants: any contamination on the surface will affect adhesion.4) Apply 3-4 thin coats of touch-up paint, allowing each coat to set for 5 minutes to allow vapors to dissipate before applying the next coat.5) After all coats are applied, bake the finish with a hair dryer for 3 minutes at a distance of 3" away, then 2 minutes at 1" away.CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TOUCH-UP PAINT TO A HOT SURFACE OR WHEN THERE IS A FIRE IN THE STOVE. |
