Big woodstoves are obviously heavier than small stoves, but when comparing two woodstoves of about the same size, more weight means greater thermal mass, which can be a big asset. Stoves made of heavy, high density materials tend to radiate heat in a gentler fashion over a longer period of time, making them nicer to be around and less needful of frequent refueling. Heavier materials also tend to be more durable. |
